ALL GIRLS IN GRADES 9 TO 12 in New Brunswick are invited to exercise their technical skills and creativity using some ‘real world’ design requirements from a real company. Prizes include a NETBOOK COMPUTER or CASH Prizes of $500.00, $250.00 or $125.00.
CIPS Loyalist is replacing the ‘Women in IT’ Conference held in previous years with the Web Page Contest. The contest is limited to individuals or teams of up to three (3 max.) girls from each school. Women in IT events are hosted around the country in an effort to increase enrollment of females in science and technology. Information Communication Technology (ICT) is used in all businesses, and a shortage of educated and trained employees will potentially impact innovation and growth of New Brunswick businesses.
The Web Page Contest is sponsored by the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) Loyalist, in partnership with ShiftEnergy with support from xwave, a Bell Aliant company and the University of New Brunswick – Saint John. Rules and information will be sent to the school District Superintendents and Technical Leads in all school districts. As well, information will be posted on the sponsor’s websites. The contest will run from January 15th, 2010 to February 15th, 2010 with an early bird prize and cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers.
